Switchbot Indoor/Outdoor Thermo-Hygrometer Review

Here at Mark’s Tech Blogs we love Switchbot! They’re great at producing high-quality, affordable smart home products and this new product is no exception. In our Switchbot Indoor/Outdoor Thermo-Hygrometer review find out all about this new meter which is perfect for damp places and outside!

The Design

With a small, white design with rounded edges and an embossed logo on the front the thermo-hygrometer has a nice modern design. It comes with a strap in the box which you can use to hand it up but it can also be freestanding.

The design might look great but realistically you’ll probably tuck this away somewhere to just do its job!

Specification

With a built-in Swiss sensor the thermometer aspect can measure from -40 to 60 degrees celsius with an accuracy of 0.2 degrees in non-extreme scenarios and the humidity sensor 0 to 99% humidity with a 1.8% accuracy in non-extreme scenarios. The device updates this data every 4 seconds.

It boasts excellent battery life from its 2 AAA batteries with Switchbot saying they can last for up to 2 years. We obviously can’t test this however, given the device has no screen and is only sending data via low-powered bluetooth 4.2 we don’t see why this won’t work!

You can access data when in bluetooth range via the Switchbot app or if you have a Hub 2 or Hub Mini you can access this data from anywhere or even using Amazon/Google’s voice assistants or via Siri Shortcuts.

Setup!

It’s barely worth having this paragraph given how simple setup is but setup is done via the Switchbot app and just requires you to remove the battery tab then hit the + icon in the app and the app will do the rest!

Accessing Data

Accessing data from this device is really simple and in the app you can view current and historical data including temperature, humidity, absolute humidity, dew point and vapour-pressure deficit. There’s also options to export this data if you want to!

You can switch between degrees celsius and Fahrenheit if you want to in the settings and enable cloud settings for out of home/voice assistant access.

You can also use the app to get notifications when certain criteria are met and even setup scenes e.g. maybe you want to toggle a smart plug when the termpature drops!

Our Verdict

At £14.99 this is a great product for your bathroom or outside and we actually think it’s more useful than Switchbot’s other meters because of its water resistance even though this device doesn’t have an on device screen!
